چکیده

This paper presents to use the Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy (RUS) as nondestructive examination method for determination of the density changing, elastic and geometrical properties of the object to be examined. The method is applied at the noninvasive evaluation of the femoral head prosthetic and of the artificial cervical discs made from yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia. This method does not require coupling fluid between the transducer and the element to be controlled.

Nondestructive Evaluation of Some Medical Prosthesis Components Made from Zirconia and Alumina Using Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy

This paper presents a possibility to use Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy as nondestructive evaluation method for ceramic elements of prosthesis such as ceramic femoral heads. With this method can be emphasized the incorrect sintering of these elements as well as eventually cracks. If the number of resonance peaks is big enough, the elements of elasticity matrix can be determined, demonstrated ...

Quantitative linear and nonlinear resonance inspection techniques and analysis for material characterization: application to concrete thermal damage.

Developed in the late 1980s, Nonlinear Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy (NRUS) has been widely employed in the field of material characterization. Most of the studies assume the measured amplitude to be proportional to the strain amplitude which drives nonlinear phenomena. In 1D resonant bar experiments, the configuration for which NRUS was initially developed, this assumption holds. However, i...

Investigation of bovine bone by resonant ultrasound spectroscopy and transmission ultrasound.

The method of resonant ultrasonic spectroscopy (RUS) was evaluated for bovine bone and compared with the traditional wave transmission ultrasound method. In RUS, the resonance structure of a cubic or rectangular specimen is scanned. For some low-damping materials, a single measurement yields sufficient resonant frequencies to determine all of the anisotropic elastic constants. Bone has a high v...

A noninvasive optical probe for breast cancer: diagnostic use of acoustically induced blood stasis

Ultrasound-induced blood stasis was demonstrated thirty years ago. Most of the literature has been focused on methods employed to prevent stasis from occurring during ultrasound imaging. The current work discusses some of the theory behind this phenomenon. It also demonstrates ultrasound-induced blood stasis in murine tumor and muscle tissue, observed through noninvasive measurements of optical...

Effects of Ultrasound Working Parameters on the Ultrasonic Power Density Some Neglected Problems in the Application of Ultrasound Bath

Ultrasound has been widely employed in food industry, while some of its working parameters are usually neglected to be described in its application, which caused the difficulty of reproducing and comparing the results obtained by different groups. So it is definitely not sufficient to simply state the ultrasound conditions such as ultrasound power, frequency and t...
